I have said this often, one of the saddest days for me working with high school students is graduation day. It is not for the reason you might think! Yes, I will miss the direct and regular contact I have enjoyed with the sharp young people who will call a college town home for the next four years or so, but that is not what hits me the hardest. My heart aches as I sit in the audience and hear name after name and realize that so many of them have gone out of their way to avoid the life giving message of Christ that we have offered. In larger schools there are also those who I may have never met, and I am reminded that the reach of our ministry did not include them. When I think of them and the cold reality that their greatest window of response to the gospel is just about behind them, I am saddened. Pray! Ask God what you can do, and take heart, we may have some help for you!
Looking for one last shot to communicate the gospel to the graduating seniors? Several schools have baccalaureate services in conjunction with graduation (if yours does not, maybe God is inviting you to help launch one). If yours does, there are a couple of things you could do to create a spiritual nudge in the life of some.
God loves these students and He has a plan for them. Our last effort is surely not His, but this is a great opportunity to give them another clear means to respond to His love. He also loves us and desires for us to experience the joy of being used by Him to impact others. Ask God how you can make that one last attempt to share Christ with them!
